How to record a channel now or schedule a recording

Record what you are watching, record a show that is on now from the TV Guide, or schedule one for later.

Step by step

   Record what you are watching

   In the live player, press ▶ to open the side guide, press ▼ to “Record Channel” and OK. “Recording started” appears and a red REC pill stays at the top right. Do the same and choose “Stop Recording” to finish.

   Record a show that is on now

   In the TV Guide, press OK on the live programme and choose “Record now”.

   Schedule a later show

   In the TV Guide, press OK on a programme that hasn’t started and choose “Schedule recording”. It uses your usual margins before and after.

   Choose your own margins

   While watching, press ▶, press OK on a later programme and choose “Schedule Recording”. Pick when to start (on time, 1, 5 or 10 minutes early) and when to end (on time, 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes late).

   Check it

   Open DVR from the bottom row of Home. Scheduled recordings are under “Scheduled”; recordings in progress under “Recording”.

Tips & tricks

• “Record now” and “Record Channel” keep recording until you stop them, for up to 3 hours — they don’t stop when the programme ends. Scheduled recordings stop on time.
• Recording keeps going if you change channel or leave the app; a notification with a “Stop” button stays while it runs.
• Set your usual margins once in Settings › DVR / Recordings › “Default start padding” and “Default end padding”.
• To record another channel without switching to it: press OK for the channel list, highlight the channel, press ▶ and choose “Record Channel”.

If something goes wrong

• ⚠“Not enough storage to start recording”: at least 200 MB must be free. Delete old recordings or downloads.
• ⚠“This stream cannot be recorded”: some M3U playlists use a streaming format that can’t be saved to a file. Xtream Codes and OneClickTV logins record normally.
• ⚠Each recording uses its own connection to your provider, on top of the channel you are watching. If your plan allows one connection, watch the recording channel or wait until it finishes.
